List of Requestable off-site Newsgroups

These are newsgroups that are NOT carried on our local News Server, but available from our upstream newsfeed (McMaster). To subscribe to one of these groups it has to first be activated by the HWCN Newsmaster. In order to activate a group, two members must post a request for the group into the newsgroup 'hwfn.request.newsgroups'. Please note that a group in this list may not conform to the requirements of our Acceptable Newsgroup Policy.

List of Active Newsgroups on HWCN

These are newsgroups that are carried on our local News Server. This is the same list that is displayed when you use the (y)ank command in Tin to see a full list of newsgroups. It is reproduced here to allow members to download it for offline review.

These lists were last updated October 30, 1999. New groups are always being added to usenet, so it is guaranteed that there will be some groups missing from these lists. Please feel free to nag the HWCN Newsmaster if these lists become woefully out of date.
