Our Universe

and how to heal it!

I learned this song from a friend who said it's a Monty Python creation. It is! It's by Eric Idle. I fell in love with it & I've finally experienced it in "The Meaning of Life".
To be able to sing it from my heart I had to change a few words & then I decided to add 2 verses of my own. Please let me know if they make good sense to you.
Here's how I sing one (uni-)verse

Let's remember that we're stranded on a planet that's evolving and revolving at 900 miles an hour.
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned, a sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun & you & me & all the stars that we can see are moving at a million miles a day
in an outer spiral arm at 40 thousand miles an hour in a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars. It's a hundred thousand light-years side-to-side.
It bulges in the middle 16 thousand light-years thick but by us it's just 3 thousand light-years wide.
We're 30 thousand light-years from galactic center point. We go 'round in several hundred million years.
And our galaxy's just one of unknown millions of big billions in a Universe that's not as it appears!

Our Universe itself keeps on expanding & expanding in all of the directions it can whizz.
As fast as it can go: the speed of light, you know, & that's the mostest fastest speed there is.
[Twelve million miles a minute! WOW!]
So let's remember when we're feeling small & insecure: how amazingly unlikely is our birth.
Let's pray that some intillegent life is somewhere out in space because we sure ain't got to much of it on earth!

Of the just about 6 billion who inhabit our wee planet, the females do two-thirds of all the work,
but get only one tenth of all the income that is made, because most men would rather boss that clerk!
And 99 per-cent of all the property that's owned is owned by men who have the dough & power!
So the women work&work&work&work&work&work every day for all of 18 weary hours!

So now's the time to make a change upon our shrinking planet, to plan it so it is a lot more fair.
To do the work that's needed so that all our earthmates dear get what they need so they can do their share
to make this world a special place for everybody here, with a safe home & a healthy sense of pride
in doing what we can do best to Heal Our Planet Earth so that everbody gets a happy ride!
