FANFIC CHALLENGE: The Cleanup

Questerianism is a do-it-yourself fandom because the only real story we've got to speculate with is the one in the movie. Since the events preceding it seem pretty normal, the really interesting stories come in two categories; fake episodes and that aftermath. When we left our heros at the movie's end, they had managed to turn a spacecraft crashed into a convention center into a brand new TV series with them as the stars.

My challenge to the other Questerians out there: write a story that explains how our heros got from point A to point B. Crossovers are acceptable, but original concepts are preferred. This requires the answers to a few questions;

What happened to the Protector's command module?
How did they explain what happened to the convention center?
Does the convention center's insurance policy cover that kind of damage? If not, who paid for it? (Hint: See question 1.)
Where did the cast get backing for the new series? (Hint: The answer for question 1 is a good possibility.)
How did they get Lalairi into the Screen Actor's Guild?
