EVENTS FOR THE UPCOMING YEAR
1. Executive
Meetings: Once per month. Possibly none at Christmas and we break
for the summer.
2. Newsletters: At least 1 in the fall and possibly 2 or 3 in
the New Year.
3. Advocacy
Issues:
Public Board: Possible FI site in Ancaster, Bussing at the new
sites and Westdale, concern over continued funding for bussing.
Catholic Board: Promotion of Cathedral.
4. Meet the
teacher events: Events usually happen too early in the year,
it was suggested that Members could provide a CPF booth at their
own volition, by requesting the tent, pamphlets, and the display
board.
5. SEVEC Exchange:
Summer 2008 - preparations throughout the year.
" Duration
2 weeks June 29- July 13.
" Hoping to get support from school Boards, by way of promotion
and use of facilities
" Aiming to get media coverage in January
" Provision of fliers and promotional video to the boards.
Action:
Rosalind 'et al' is planning information nights, and packages
to be sent out to schools in both boards.
6. CPF Ontario
Conference: It was discussed that our Chapter could send 2 members,
in addition to Roz's attendance as she is a presenter. It was
suggested that a Catholic and a Public Board member attend.
Action:
Rosalind and Kaywana will contact members to see who is available
to attend.
7. Trade Show/
Book Sale:
" The event takes up a lot of volunteer time and this year
we are very busy with SEVEC; however it was felt that the event
is something that is now expected by the public. It was agreed
that we would continue with the book sale but scale back by not
including the Trade show this year.
" Wednesday or Thursday, November 28/29, 2007 dates were
proposed.
" It was suggested that we ask the Public Library's French
Consltant to prepare a flier on the availability of French Material
within the Library system.
Action:
Kaywana to check with St. Joseph on the availability of their
gym and tabled for the Book Sale
Diana McLure will ask the French Consultant if she is able to
provide the Flier.
8. Dundurn
Castle Tour: Possibly Sunday, December 02, 2007
Action:
Rosalind will contact Dundurn staff about the Sunday, and this
time we will try to book an earlier time
9. French
Concert : Kaywana pointed out that we have had 4 and years of
French Music concerts, and that our market was saturated and
attendance was waning. This year we would attempt to provide
a media based interactive show called "Gotta love that French"
It was proposed that the artist would perform at each school,
and could do 2 shows per day
Proposed Show dates are to be the last week of January and the
4 weeks of February
Action:
Dianne McKenzie would prepare the Flier
Kaywana would distribute a copy of the flier and a copy of a
promotional video clip to the French Consultants.
10. Hamilton
Reads: In the past this event has been poorly attended. If we
participate this year, we will ask if our sponsored event could
be at the Westdale Branch
Action:
Rosalind will follow up.
11. FI Information
Nights: Catholic and Public Board dates for High Schools to be
included in the Fall flier if possible. The Chapter has to apply
for grants to advertise the events, which we have used to produce
pamphlets for every JK student in both boards, in the past.

Diana McLure to investigate date for Westdale
Rosalind to find out dates for elementary schools.
12. Rendezvous
de la Francophone: Further discussion as to whether we should
continue to participate in the Francophone Fete is required.
13. AGM: AGMs
have been poorly attended in the past, and the most successful
event has been our presentation on French in High School, where
we provided information to members. It was agreed that we would
invite the French Consultant at the Public Library present information
on what is available through the library.
Action:
Diana McLure to investigate
