Fall Newsletter
Dianne reviewed the content of the October newsletter. Members
reviewed distribution of newsletter.
Identified CPF reps required for Ryerson Middle School and Cathedral
Secondary School to be included in newsletter.
Meet the Teacher
Nights
Roz noted Meet the Teacher Nights were well received at Norwood
& Earl Kitchener.
Parent Council
~ St. Joseph's
Kaywana attended Parent Council meeting at St. Joseph's. Students
will have opportunity to participate in Concours every year,
first semester.
Tables will
be available for the book sale, and Kaywana has requested parent
volunteers to assist.
School Council
Roz attended School Council on October 6, 2004. Identified committees:
Promotion - Limeridge Mall Display; Parent-to-Parent Committee
~ idea of this committee is to support parents to understand
homework; report card grading, etc.
SEVEC Information
Night
Initial meeting well attended. Expressed interest from about
50 participants. If schools want to have presentation, contact
Deborah.
Next planning
meeting scheduled for October 25, 2004 at St. Peter & Paul's.
We will be providing handouts and expecting 80 people. From
the initial soft sell we will identify commitment required to
finalize numbers. Deborah will have information on Police Checks
~ these are free until the end of the year. As of January 1,
2005 police checks will be $15.00 per family member.

EVENTS

November CPF Conferences
Provincial Conference (October 22 & 23): Roz, Dianne,
Marie, Craig, Kaywana and Carrie
National Conference (November 11 to 14): Kaywana & Roz.
Roz reviewed
agenda and requested input from members on issues to be brought
forth for discussion. These included: increased funding for
newsletters. Topic of conference ~ Motivating Your Chapter;
What Support is there for Parents?
French Course
Level I currently offered ~ 21 participants ~ 3 participants
owe payment
Level 1 ~
February 2005
Level II ~ Review course content and add conversation component.

4. PUBLIC
BOARD ISSUES
Roz attended FIAC meeting and provided report.
Transportation - FIAC will participate in public review and submit
resolution.
Survey
Roz provided highlights on numbers of FI at high school level.
2000 - 73 students first semester; 46 student June; 8 graduates

FI students
Course conflicts
noted ~ courses only offered at Academic level include Math,
Science and Francais. Option to explore providing General level
courses.
Dr. Chris
Spence, Superintendent of Education will be holding a number
of open forum discussions within the highschools over the next
couple of weeks. CPF members encouraged attending, and placing
transportation as an item for Dr. Spence.
Westdale Potluck
- FI Community
Date set for May 12, 2005. All FI schools invited. CPF will
have display at potluck.
5. SEPARATE
BOARD ISSUES
Kaywana reported that no formal response had been received from
the Board to the CPF presentation in June 2004. Three issues
presented included: Official recognition at board; survey at
high school on FI; Committee - parallel to FIAC at the Board
level. Letter reminding them of request, no response.
6. FINALIZE
MEETING DATES FOR 2004
The following
meeting dates have been set and booked for Fortinos Community
Room.
