3. CHAPTER UPDATES
AGM Debriefing
Everyone agreed meeting very informative and successful. A wealth
of information was provided to those in attendance.
Shared comments to facilitate for next year: good venue; long
evening; excellent door prizes and refreshments. Thank you emails
have been sent by Roz.
French Film Matinees at the Staircase
Advertising in Newsletter in May. Theatre on Dundurn Street,
60 - 65 seats, costs $5/person and $10/family - two feature movies.
Will display CPF Chapter Board and information on memberships.
Members Appreciation-
May 16, 2004
Marc Tardif, the magician has been booked to perform at the Hamilton
Conservatory for the Arts Invitations sent out to 100 members
- response reviewed at meeting - 73 r.s.v.p.
Reviewed itinerary for Marc Tardiff. Cathedral High School Students
will present an opening drama act, Quebec Street Scene, using
mime, dance, and poetry through short skits.
Door prizes and refreshments will be provided.
4. PUBLIC SCHOOL
BOARD ISSUES:
Roz will attend the next FIAC meeting scheduled for the end of
May. Issue of transportation will be raised at the meeting for
consideration.
Earl Kitchener
hosting JK/SK Information Night on May 18, 2004. S. McClure
will be present for CPF.
Representatives
Will need to review representation at schools. Glen Brae, Glen
Echo and Cunningham for the fall.
5. SEPARATE
SCHOOL BOARD ISSUES:
Kaywana reported on the Information Night for April 22/04 at
St. Joseph's School. Representatives present included Principal
from Sts. Peter & Paul School, Superintendent; FI Staff of
Cathedral High School. Due to road construction and poor publicity,
attendance was minimal. Discussion was lively, noted that information
about Cathedral must be present in the St. Joseph's newsletter
for the students to start considering the relationship between
these two schools.
Thank you cards
will be sent for the participation within the Concours.
Kaywana shared
communication that has been sent to the Board of Education, requesting
to be put onto the Agenda for the June Board meeting. Briefly
noting that the Board recognize CPF, thereby all communications
from CPF can be distributed via the Board; Requesting adoption
of a French Advisory Committee - to provide a forum in which
FI issues can be addressed; and to promote a survey to ascertain
numbers on the FI enrollment to facilitate an understanding of
the issues/concerns of why students may drop out of the program.
Board to acknowledge and promote the FI program. Meeting June
1, 2004.
6. OTHER BUSINESS
French Course
Roz will collect French Course Evaluations. We will need to
review Level II based on evaluation feedback. Emphasis on oral.
Chapter will be eligible for a rebate for Level II course. Evaluations
will be forwarded to CPF Ontario. Discussion with instructors
for availability for fall course will take place for planning
purposes.

SEVEC
Society for Educational Visits and Exchanges in Canada
Information Brochure provided to members.
