A quiet presence in our meeting, and faithful provider of coffee and goodies for many years, Maria was well known to many Hamilton Friends in the past. However in more recent years ill health has prevented her from taking part in the life of the Meeting. She died a few weeks ago.
A Memorial Meeting to celebrate the life of Maria Kawerau will be held at the Meeting House, on Saturday June 25, at 2 p.m. All are welcome. Friends are encouraged to inform other friends of Maria who do not receive this newsletter. Friends are also encouraged to bring squares, cookies, fruit or cheese for refreshments afterwards.

Dear Friends,
Many of you might be wondering why you've seen so little of Liam and me at Meeting during the past year. By the time you read this, I will be fully moved to Elmira, in preparation for getting married this weekend. Cynthia and I will be married in a small backyard ceremony, attended by family. We will be living in Elmira, where Cynthia has a law practice. Liam will be with us for part of the summer, as well as on alternate weekends.
I have really enjoyed being in attendance at HMM over the past decade, and hope that Cynthia & I can attend and worship with you on occasion. Thank you for all your care and support.
Tom
Someone left a booklet of taxi scrips (for the disabled/elderly) in the Meeting House, client #1020630. These are valuable items! If the loser of them wishes to contact Carol Leigh, they can be retrieved.
All interested folks are invited to come on Sunday June 19th in the evening at 7:30 to an information and discussion session with Alan Playdell, who is a program manager with the Quaker Peace and Social Witness group based in Friends House in London, England. Alan has 10 years experience in Peace work in the region of the former Yugoslavia. He hopes for non-violent ways to implement The Responsibility to Protect, a Report on the human responsibility to prevent mass violence that was endorsed by the UN Secretary General, actively supported by the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, and supportively referred to in our most recent Throne Speech. For further information contact Dick.
Denise is leaving her home in a month or two. She can't take all her furniture with her to her new home. She is offering for sale the following:
The Meeting has purchased a new gas lawnmower, so the previous electric mower is available for a reasonable price. It is a mulching mower in good condition. Please contact John for details.
If you want peace you will have to find reconciliation If you want reconciliation, you will have to find forgiveness. If you want forgiveness, you will have to give up the right to a better past.
