There
is an excellent new (1996) trail system, two metres
wide, from Mud Street on top of the escarpment, all
the way to Confederation Park. It is suitable for strollers,
and some sections are fully accessible even for wheelchairs.
Best of all, it's right in the city, and you can even
get there by the HSR. Tell us what you'd like to see,
and we'll do our best to give your group an interesting
and pleasant outdoor event.
Our
group is called Friends of Red Hill Valley and we have
over 850 members. We hold annual walks on New Year's
Day and Good Friday, as well as a summer Firefly Festival
and other events. Many Hamilton residents have never
been to Red Hill Valley, and may have only a vague idea
of what this east Hamilton natural area has to offer.
Our free walks program is intended to change that.
You
can learn more about our group and the Red Hill Valley
by viewing our web site. We can also send you a full-colour
brochure on the valley and its trails. To arrange a
guided walk or for more information, please call us
at (905) 381-0329 or send us an email.
