Donations
for the Panel Review
Friends
has received a $5000.00 donation from Birgit and Robert
Bateman. The renowned Canadian wildlife artist and his
wife made the gift to assist Friends of Red Hill in preparing
for the Panel Review of the expressway project.
Friends
has also received over $7000 in donations from members.
We have been trying to make arrangements that would allow
these donors to receive a charitable tax receipt. While
Friends cannot qualify as a charity, monies can be received
and receipted by a charity on our behalf, if they are used
exclusively in legal processes like the federal environmental
assessment. We had hoped to offer this opportunity to members
who have already made donations, but this is taking longer
than expected, and would appear to require the donor making
out a new cheque.
Consequently,
we have now deposited the donations we have been holding.
We are continuing to work on arrangements that would allow
future donors to receive charitable tax receipts and we
will keep you informed of our progress.
