A Record of Our Struggle
In the wake of the
large-scale destruction
in the Red Hill
Valley that began in
the fall of 2003,
Friends of Red Hill
believes that it is very
important to document
and record the
history of the Red Hill
Valley and the efforts
that have been made
to protect it. We want
to ensure that there is
a permanent record of
what has taken place, in the hope that it will provide lessons
on past mistakes to help avoid future repetition of those errors.
We have compiled a CD (compact computer disk) documenting
our 14 years of efforts to protect and enhance the Red Hill
Valley. The CD also includes material from two other
groups – the Showstoppers and the Tree-Sitters group.
The CD contains
more than 1000 files
including all 225
email updates between
1998 and 2004,
and the full contents
of the Friends of Red
Hill website. To this
we’ve added nearly
400 different leaflets,
flyers, media releases,
posters, letters to governments,
and other
documents of Friends
of Red Hill Valley.
There is also a short video as well as audio reproductions of
radio ads utilized by Friends and over 400 photos of events
and scenes from the valley dated 1991 onwards.
This disk is part of a larger package that includes several
hours of video news coverage plus a music and spoken word
CD called Keepers of the Sacred Fire. It also includes the feature
film Grass Through Concrete produced by Maia Iotzova.
This package is being provided free to various public libraries
and educational institutions.
