McHattie Running in Ward 1
 Brian
McHattie, a founder of Friends of Red Hill Valley, and the
current president of the Hamilton Naturalists' Club, has
launched his campaign for the Ward 1 (west Hamilton) seat
on City Council.
Brian's May 27 launch at the Sweetwater Cafe on Dundurn
South attracted over 100 enthusiastic supporters. Brian's
background and policies can be examined on his website at

. They include the following comments on the Red Hill Creek
Expressway: "This project is a fiscal and environmental
mistake. Replacing 41,000 trees with pavement and trucks
will significantly increase air pollution and ill health,
while sacrificing east Hamilton's only large park. There
are much more important community priorities that are being
starved for dollars because of the huge tax commitments
to this project."
