The
State of the City's Finances: Property Taxes, Debt and What
Hamilton Needs
Joe
Rinaldo, the City's general manager of finance and corporate
services, has agreed to be the guest speaker at a public
meeting organized by Friends of Red Hill Valley on Thursday,
November 21 at 7 pm.
The
meeting will take place on the main floor of Hamilton Central
Library at 55 York Boulevard in downtown Hamilton. The topic
is: "The State of the City's Finances: Property Taxes,
Debt and What Hamilton Needs."
The crucial 2003 budget discussions are beginning this month.
This is the first time that councillors will have to decide
whether to actually start spending the money to construct
the valley expressway next year. To do so will require at
least $35 million in additional capital spending, and obviously
the sacrifice of many other projects. We urge you to call
your councillors.
