Dinner
We
hope you will be able to attend our Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser
on Saturday, November 4. We are hoping to raise enough money
to meet two sets of legal costs incurred in the defence
of Red Hill Valley.
One
set arose out of the battle last March to prevent the expropriation
of the valley lands owned by Richard and Darlene Woods.
The Woods and their neighbours successfully blocked the
expropriation of lands that the Region says are required
for re-alignment of Red Hill Creek to accommodate the expressway.
However, the legal costs were substantial and donations
have only met part of the bill.
The
second set of legal costs are being incurred directly by
Friends of Red Hill Valley as a result of our intervention
in the court case launched by the Region to stop the federal
environmental assessment.
Our
costs are less than 2/10ths of a percent of the amount that
the Region is spending on its lawyers and lobbyists, but
nevertheless must be met.
The
dinner will include a cash bar and entertainment by the
Red Hill Boys band which wowed those who attended our Colours
of Autumn picnic last fall. It starts at 6:00 pm at a location
TBA, very soon.
Please
call 381-0240 to reserve tickets.
