A junior member at Dundas Granite Curling Club has the following program options:
Thursday Recreational
Sunday Recreational
Thursday & Sunday Competitive
Sessions are held Thursday (Click here for schedule) - 4 - 6 pm and/or Sunday (Click here for schedule) 9 - 11 am .
The Program
The Thursday program features a “Shot of the Day”. In off-ice discussion a particular shot is introduced and there is discussion about the shot and when to use it. The curlers will have an opportunity to practice the shot during warm-up and during a game situation.
The Sunday program features off-ice instruction which covers all aspects of curling, on-ice drills, on-ice fun activities and regular curling.
Throughout the year, the junior curlers receive both group and individual instruction which is geared to their own curling level.

The Greater Hamilton & Halton Junior Curling League - 64 Division
For the second year in a row, the Dundas Granite Bantam/Juniors won the league championship.Our curlers competed against eight member clubs throughout the season. All members of the Bantam/Junior section are encouraged to play in the league as the emphasis is on good sportsmanship and fun in curling with abalance between the social and competitive aspects of league curling.

Jr. Men's
Zone B Winner - Congratulations to Eric Reid, Andrew Tournay, Travis Ackroyd, Fraser Reid coach - Sue Reid on their win in St. Catharines. The boys now move to Regional Playdowns in Forest on Nov. 24-25
In the regional playdowns , the boys advanced to the B semi-final before being eliminated - a great showing.
Jr. Women's
Dundas Granite Junior Women members Alex Hughes, Jasmin Thurston, Jamie Van Ymeren and Grace Coyle coach - Rick Thurston, playing out of Aylmer in Zone 15 (in deference to one of the team members in her last year of juniors whose mom curls in Alymer) won the A side of the Zone playdown. The girls advance to regional playdowns in Forest on Nov. 24-25.
In regional playdowns, the girls came within a whisker of advancing to the provincial finals, suffering a heart-breaking loss in the B final.
Bantam Boys
On the first weekend of 2008, they competed in the Bantam Zones in Welland and rattled off 4 straight wins, ( including a extra end final shot victory in the finals) to win A side. They will be hoping to keep that winning edge in their quest for a berth at Provincials at the Bantam regions in Welland on January 19, 20th. The members of the team are Skip: Fraser Reid, Vice: Travis Ackroyd, Second: Alex Rowegan, Lead: Travis Lane and Coach Susan Reid. Wish them luck - team photo
Bantam Mixed
Congratulations to:
Skip - Fraser Reid, Third - Rachelle Vink, Second - Travis Akroyd, Lead - Amy Brown "A" side Zone winners. They advance to regional play this weekend at Burlington Curling Club.
Fraser's team won the "B' side of regional play and advance to Provincial round robin play Mar. 26 - 29 at the Midland Curling Club.
Bonspiel Results
Junior Women - Ontario Junior Curling Tour
The girls - Alex Hughes,Jasmin Thurston, Jamie Van Ymeren and Grace Coyle coach - Rick Thurston, playing under the Dundas Granite name, qualified in three out of 6 events on the OJCT Tour (Galt, London and Kitchener).
The team is ranked 13th out of 53 teams on the OJCR.
Bantam Boys
The Bantam boys ended the 2007 season by winning 4 games in a row in the TCA's (Toronto Curling Association) Junior Energizer Bonspeil - Bantam division, before losing a tough game in the final of the main event.Congratulations on an excellent showing. team photo
OFSAA Championships
DGCC junior Jasmine Thurston won the provincial girl's OFSAA championship as a member of the M.M. Robinson representatives. On the boy's side, two DGCC members - Eric amd Fraser Reid - were members of the provincial champion squad from Bishop Tonnos. The team was coached by Sue Reid. It marked the first time two teams from the same district have won the OFSSA championships. Congratulations
