Hamilton Mundialization
On May 8, 1968 the City of Hamilton, by a resolution of
Council and witnessed by the Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations,
was declared a World (Mundialized) City.
The Hamilton Mundialization Committee is a council mandated
advisory committee which responsibility is to facilitate and support peace
initiatives and the twinning relationships between Hamilton and its nine
twin-cities around the world. Its purpose is to assist City Council
in implementing its Mundialization resolution.
Main functions
— To promote Hamilton as a "Mundialized City" dedicated
to global awareness, international cooperation and world law.
— To further the work of the United Nations through publicity
and education and to have the United Nations flag flown with the Canadian
flag from the City Hall at all times.
— To undertake twinning programs in international cooperation
with like-minded municipalities around the world.
— To involve Hamilton citizens of different cultures,
especially those from the countries of our twinned communities, to share
in our multi-cultural programs.
The Hamilton Mundialization Committee welcomes any individual
or organization to join its membership and, to participate in any of the
mundialization programs and special events through out the year.
