Review of the May/June 1998 Yule Log
Feature Articles
Notre Dame De Paris"...George W. Rohrer,
CPC #1499, describes the rose window of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. The window is
shown on Scott #1090, a stamp issued to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the
Cathedral.
"Just a Sip" - Religion on Christmas
Stamps... Rev. Frank Pieper, CPC #1051, continues to share his enjoyment of collecting
with readers of the Yule Log. Because there are so many Christmas postal issues, one has
to be selective or narrow one's selected topic. Frank describes some of his favourite
issues illustrating the Annunciation and stamps featuring Mary and Jesus.
'Round the World Christmas Covers...Richard
Beecher, CPC #987, illustrates a cover from the former French colony of Cameroon. The
cover is postmarked May 4, 1977 and 5 different commemorative stamps are used, including
two low values from the 1976 Christmas issue.
The Carols and Songs of Christmas...President
Glenn Vasbinder begins a new series by describing the origins of the carol "Stille
Nacht."
CPC 1998 Gathering at INDYPEX in Indianapolis,
Indiana, Sept. 4-6, 1998.
Christmas Philatelic Club Auction - Mary Turner
and Richard Sartor describe 102 lots of Christmas philatelic material, including stamps,
Souvenir Sheets, First Day Covers, British Post Office Santa Replies, Seal Official First
