Canadian Organic Growers Hamilton Chapter: Feb 2007 in review.

At the COG-Hamilton January 8, 2007 meeting a new committee began their term of service: Jean Burbidge (Chair), Kerry Brookes (secretary), Hollie Bollster (treasurer) and Carrie Watson (Chapter rep to COG \ National). Thanks to Karl Eden and his committee who led us in a new direction for 2007.

COG-Hamilton will have a more flexible program of meetings, speakers,
planning, support of and working with like minded groups, events and
idea exchanges. We aim to provide more service to the organic sector,
more support for transitioning folks and relevant information for those
who wonder what organic means.

We have already had info tables at the Wellness Fair in January (RBG)
and the David Suzuki Event February (Hamilton Place), Harry Marshall
represented COG-Hamilton with an info table at the Simcoe Seedy
Saturday and some of our members attended the COG National

"Growing Up Organic" Conference in Toronto. We also sponsored an Eat Local member to attend that conference. Keith Kuntz and Harry Marshall have agreed to manage our booth at Seedy Saturday (RBG, Mar, 3).

"We are looking for an organizer"for a COG-Hamilton info table and some helpers for the Eco-Fest in Oakville Mar. 31-April 1, 2007. Contact Carrie or Howard for the Oakville gig.

Karl Eden is our representative to the Halton Environmental Network and Kerry is applying for membership in the Hamilton Eco-Net.

Looking at all of this I think we have started the year with enthusiasm and energy. It is a privilege to be part of such a vibrant grass roots movement whose rumbles were loud and clear at the David Suzuki Event.

Thanks to all of those people who have volunteered time and work so far and to those who will do their bit later. If we keep this up it will be a banner year for COG-Hamilton.
