Greeting From Our Minister 

I am delighted to welcome you to the Web Site of Burkholder United Church.  We hope that you will find some useful information here about us and our lives.  

Rev. Alan McLean

Alan McLean was born in Lindsay, Ontario, and he often refers to his early life in a small town in his sermons. He received his BA from Trent University. He has earned his Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, and Master of Religious Education from Emmanual College at Victoria University of the University of Toronto.

He was a missionary in Japan for three years, at a Christian centre that is a partner of the United Church of Canada. He taught English and developed education programs.

In Geneva, Switzerland, he worked for the World Student Christian Federation. He was ordained in 1983, and has had several pastoral charges in rural Ontario. Alan came to Burkholder in 2001

Outside of the Church, his interests are theatre, music, reading, and walking off the effects of being a gourmet chef.
