Connecting to HWCN using Windows XP

The following are instructions on how to manually set up your Internet connection using the Internet Connection Wizard. It is recommended that you print a copy of this page for future reference.

  1. Click on your START button (on the bottom left corner of the screen), then slide the mouse onto All Programs, and when that menu opens, slide the mouse up to Accessories then onto Communications, and the Communications menu will open.

  2. Click on New Connection Wizard in the Communications menu, to start the New Connection Wizard.

  3. Click Next on the first Welcome screen.

  4. Click on the radio button beside Connect to the Internet. Click on Next.

  5. Click on the radio button beside Set up my connection manually. Click on Next.

  6. Click on the radio button beside Connect using a dial-up modem. Click on Next.

  7. Type in HWCN for the field ISP Name. Click on Next.

  8. Type in 905-540-8968 for the field Phone Number. Click on Next.

  9. In lower case, enter your User ID (aa000) in the User Name field and your password in the Password and Confirm password fields. Click on Next.

  10. Click on the check box to Add a shortcut to the connection to my desktop. Click on Finish.

  11. Double click the icon on your desktop and click on Dial to connect to the Internet.
